The Pesticides Formulators Association of India (PFAI) came into existence in the year 1967 with a view to providing a platform for small-scale Pesticides Formulators. It was subsequently changed in 1997 to the Pesticides Manufacturers & Formulators Association of India. The members of PMFAI include multinationals, large-medium, and small-scale basic manufacturers & manufacturers of intermediates required for Pesticides.
The Pesticides Manufacturers & Formulators Association of India (PMFAI) represents the over 250 as India-based pesticide manufacturers, formulators, and traders. PMFAI member companies manufacture, formulate, sell and distribute almost all the crop protection products that have potential in India.
PMFAI works with a variety of research and social society partners and also with a number of pesticide associations having a common interest throughout the world. Transparency and end-user benefit are imbibed to the core of our work. PMFAI has perpetual cooperation with the CCPIA and close relations with the CCFI & CLI in India and around the world maintains a dialogue on international issues with pesticide associations. It has an active collaboration with the Huntingdon Life Sciences, UK.

PMFAI is committed to delivering affordable, better, safer & eco-friendly agrochemicals to farmers. PMFAI provides legislative, regulatory, and legal support to member companies for the expansion of off-patented and generic agricultural technologies among farmers in India as well as around the world. The association frequently engages with national and state leaders as well as regulatory agencies including the CIB&RC and the State Agriculture department in pursuit of science and farmer benefits. The major focus of PMFAI is on communication outreach with various governmental and non-governmental stakeholders that helps its member companies to do business with ease.
The Pesticides Manufacturers & Formulators Association of India (PMFAI) manages collaborations among members to generate regulatory & scientific data for registering and/or protecting the registration of patent, off patented, and generic pesticides in EU countries.

PMFAI supports its member companies to achieve following objectives
∙ To protect and promote the interests of the pesticide manufacturers & formulators engaged in all sectors.
∙ To promote improvement or innovation in technologies of pesticides formulation and quality control
∙ To develop technical research in the methods of application and use of pesticides and associate closely with the national programme for increasing food production in the country.
∙ To promote co-operation and exchange of information between its members.
∙ To promote harmonious relationship between members of the Association.
∙ To subscribe, to become a member of or otherwise affiliate or co-operate with any other body in India or elsewhere with which the association has a common interest.
∙ To keep members informed and to protect and promote their common interest in connection with the Central Govt., State Govt., or other legislation pertaining to the industry whether enacted or proposed ∙ To protect the interest of the manufacturers & formulators in general, in any scheme for eg. allocation of raw materials, etc.
∙ To enter, into the arrangement, with any, State or Central govt. or authority, whether supreme, municipal, local, or otherwise that may seem conducive to the Association’s objectives and to obtain from any such authority all rights, concessions, and privileges which the Association may consider it desirable to obtain, carry out, exercise and comply with.
