Licious is a path breaking concept in the Indian Food industry; aimed at solving the perennially existing problem of finding safe, delectable, trustworthy fresh meat in India. The company builds a world-class enterprise that’s bound to upgrade the way the company procures, sells, buys, and consumes meat in India.
Challenge:
Safety of meat and seafood
Customers often have to depend on unhygienically cleaned meat in open places exposed to environmental vectors such as houseflies. This poses a risk to public health. The need for a safe source of protein cannot be understated or over emphasized.
Solution:
Provision of safe meat and seafood through e-commerce.
Licious is an online meat and seafood ordering startup that follows an end-to-end business of product delivery. They fulfill their mission through the company’s web and/or mobile e commerce applications.
Technology behind Licious Platform
Licious operates an e-commerce platform to sell meat and seafood in cities in India. The startup does not stock any inventory, so any raw material it procures, it processes and ships on the same or next day. It processes more
than 17,000 orders every day. The startup, which employs more than 2,000 people, has built its own supply chain network to control sourcing and production of food, it said.
Key Differentiator and Uniqueness of Licious
• Quality: Licious delivers quality to customers by ensuring that each product is picked by an experienced team of professionals. In order to assure quality, only lambs within the ages of 8 and 12 months old and chickens weighing between 1 and 1.2kg are selected. The seafood is sourced directly from the producer.
• Freshness: The company maintains the optimum temperature of 0 to 5°C all through the process of procurement, cleaning, cutting and storage of meat for the sake of retaining the natural freshness and juices of the meat.
• Pay for what you buy: Licious only charges customers per weight of what they actually take home. This is as against the regular practice of being charged for inedible parts of the meat such as bones. Customers get the best bits – more meat and less bones.
• Convenience: Customers have access to meat at their doorstep by simply ordering online.
• Standardization: The company is certified by the Food Safety Systems Certification 22000 (FSSC 22000 Certification). This certification is applicable for the scope of processing, chilling, packing anddischarge of meat and meat products, sea food and sea food products and repacking of egg, salami and sausage.
Looking Ahead
Licious currently operates in Bengaluru, NCR, Hyderabad, Chandigarh, Panchkula, Mohali, Mumbai, Pune, and Chennai. The company aims to expand to more cities in India, and launch new products. Learn more at: https://www.licious.in
