Introduction

Intello Labs Pvt. Ltd., founded in 2016 by IIT Bombay alumni Milan Sharma, Nishant Mishra, Himani Shah, and Devendra Chandani, is a Gurugram-based agritech company. Utilizing AI, computer vision, and deep learning, Intello Labs offers innovative quality assessment solutions for fresh produce. Its mission is to assist in reducing post-harvest loss and making fresh produce value chain transparent to the advantage of growers, traders, retailers, and end-consumers. Its major products are smartphone software and mobile scanners like Intello Deep, which are being widely used by customers such as Reliance Fresh, Dole, Ocean Spray, and top e-grocery platforms in Southeast Asia.

Tackling Agricultural Challenges

Fruit and vegetable supply chains are plagued with excessive post-harvest losses, variability in quality grading, and value leakages. Intello Labs solves these problems using quick, non-destructive, scalable AI solutions that introduce precision and standardization to quality testing. Their solutions minimize dependency on slow human inspection and costly lab tests, allowing for quality checks to be finished in seconds with 95%+ accuracy—time, money, and waste saved.

Key Offerings

Intello Labs offers a suite of AI-powered products:

  • The Intello Track mobile app allows users to snap produce photos and receive real-time quality scoring.
  • Intello Deep, a handheld deep-learning scanner, gauges attributes such as moisture content, pesticide residue, and dry matter.

Additional tools include Intello Sort and Intello Pack, designed for enterprise-grade quality control in agribusiness and packaging operations.

Real Impact

With over $15.7 million raised to date—including $5.9M Series A in 2020 and $2.82M Series B in 2022—Intello Labs has scaled both domestically and globally. The startup won the National Startup Award for Post-Harvest Quality (2020) and has seen wide deployment across export, retail, and processing sectors. Its tools are now used by major brands and agribusiness stakeholders to ensure product quality, reduce rejects, and enhance farm-to-fork transparency

Success Story

When Reliance Fresh implemented Intello Labs’ app, they reduced produce rejection rates by up to 30%, while exporters using Intello Deep improved batch sorting speed and consistency—minimizing post-harvest degradation and boosting farmer income through better price realization.

Lessons for Agri-Startups

Intello Labs is a prime example:

  • Precision at scale—begin with easy-to-adopt technology with established accuracy before scaling.
  • Utilize AI and IoT for effective, real-time quality monitoring.
  • Target end-to-end supply chains to drive ecosystem-wide value.
  • Quality and compliance are strong drivers of farmer goodwill and enterprise uptake.
