Introduction

The Bengaluru-based agritech startup CultYvate was established by Mallesh T. M. during 2016. The company implements AI together with satellite imagery and machine learning and IoT technology to revolutionize Indian agricultural systems. CultYvate enhances fertigation and irrigation systems to support Indian marginal farmers so they can achieve increased crop yields and resource conservation while promoting sustainable agricultural practices. The application of technology at CultYvate drives a smart farming revolution that provides farmers with tools to achieve better output and more profitable operations.

Tackling Agricultural Challenges

Traditional agriculture involves wasteful use of water, use of fertilizers in the wrong manner, and thus increased greenhouse gas emissions that negatively impact the environment. Inefficient use of water and wastage of inputs make the experience even worse for smallholder farmers. CultYvate solves these fundamental problems through the supply of instruments to farmers with accuracy that prevents wastage and environmental impact. Their technology enables farmers to irrigate and fertilize with precision, cutting down on excess water and chemical consumption by a great deal without lessening or reducing crop performance. This practice not only improves resource preservation but also helps farmers fight the effects of climate change by performing climate-friendly activities.

Key Offerings

CultYvate’s technology suite focuses on delivering precision and sustainability through smart farming solutions:

  • IoT Sensors & AI Algorithms: Scheduling irrigation in automation mode by continuous monitoring of soil moisture using IoT Sensors & AI algorithms conserves water by as much as 50% without compromising crop quality.
  • Automated Greenhouse Control Systems: They provide the ideal climatic conditions like temperature and humidity for healthily well-balanced plant growth and maximum yield in conditioned environments.
  • Integrated Fertigation Management: Combine fertilizer application with irrigation to attain optimal dosing of nutrients according to crop requirement, enhancing quantity and quality of production
  • Carbon Credit Facilitation: Carbon credits can be earned by farmers through using resource-saving methods, thus transforming sustainable agriculture into an extra source of income while mitigating emissions of greenhouse gases

Real Impact

CultYvate has been able to onboard over 3,400 farmers and digitize over 16,000 acres of land in India. Their application of precision fertigation and irrigation technology has seen outstanding savings on resources: nearly 3,080 crore liters of water and 3,270 MWh of electricity saved. Farms employing CultYvate’s technologies have enjoyed typical gains in yields of as much as 20%, along with significant decreases in pesticide residue—gains that greatly enhance the market worth and profitability of crops. Such quantifiable improvements are testament to how precision agriculture can raise inefficient, resource-wasteful traditional farming to a higher, more intelligent, more sustainable game.

Success Story

In Karnataka, a number of marginal farmers struggled with uneven water supply and increasing input costs, restricting crop yields. After adopting CultYvate’s Internet of Things -based fertigation and irrigation system, the farmers automated water and fertilizer supply, decreasing water consumption by nearly half. The precise delivery of nutrients improved the well-being of crops and plants, resulting in a 20% increase in yield. Secondly, as sustainable agriculture practice, the farmers qualified for carbon credits and received extra income from this. This success story illustrates how technology take-up can empower the poor farmers to overcome system constraints and construct sustainable livelihoods.

Lessons for Agri-Startups

CultYvate’s journey offers valuable insights for agritech innovators:

  • Technology as a Facilitator: Integrating IoT, AI, and space-based information provides actionable insights that streamline difficult agriculture decisions for farmers.
  • Targeting Marginal Farmers: Solutions that consider smallholders’ reality tend to have higher adoption and actual impact
  • Sustainability Pays: Resource conservation and carbon credit programs add environmental and economic value to farming.
  • Data-Driven Farming: Continuous field monitoring helps optimize inputs and reduce waste, delivering measurable benefits.
  • Scalable Model: Digitizing large acreages while maintaining localized farmer engagement enables growth without losing impact quality.

CultYvate exemplifies how cutting-edge technology can lead to smarter irrigation and sustainable farming, fostering increased productivity while preserving precious natural resources.
